We are happy to announce the new release of Remote Assistant v.2.06.
This version introduces the following improvements and bug fixes.

  • #664. Added optional remote user authentication using login and password pairs, stored in users.cfg file. Each login and password allows for masks, so the system could authorize any user with certain password (*=1111) or certain user with certain set of passwords (John=x34d*). The user name is NOT case sensitive as well as the password mask, while the password, if specified without masking characters (*?[]) will be case sensitive.
  • #665. Added hidden Password edit box to Remote Host. This edit box can be made visible via configuration file (see Password folder under demos).
  • #666. Remote Host window hides itself from the Windows task bar when minimized and shows back when restored.

As part of improvements made to Database Extensions we are developing customizable filtering infrastructure, which will allow to greate completely custom, database agnostic, filters, based on information, contained in the Database Schema.
These filtering is aimed at improving end-user experience, provide on the fly data mining and more. It also includes Query Builder and can easily be used in reporting.

We are continuing working on developing of the new Database Designer and Extensions v.3. We have completely redesigned the UI of the Database Designer to make it dockable and reduce the number of modal dialogs and screens. The preview release is expected around the end of March, 2008.

This version introduces several improvements and bug fixes:
Improvements
  • #562 Added storing the order in which the relation items are created. This fixes the problem when the relationships rearranged manually in the diagram editor were resorted again after the diagram is reloaded.
  • #563 Added check for maximum length allowed for the identifiers (schema consistency testing).
  • #564 Added AllowHTMLFormatting option to the diagram text box. This allows to create a text box, which is not HTML formatted.

Issues Addressed

  • #565 Fixed problem with backup and auto-saving functionality. If error occurs during save operation, 2.14 and earlier versions could corrupt both the backup and auto-save files.
  • #566 Fixed problem with copy/pasting of diagram text blocks.

  • Added ability to instantly compare schema with a physical database in Compare Schema dialog. Before now, a database must have been reverse engineered into a separate schema prior to comparison.
